Differing Opinions to Peace Deal

Many protesters voiced optimism that the truce might bring permanent peace. Others were sceptical of the former president's role and called on activists to continue urging the Australian government to impose restrictions and halt weapons commerce.

A participant, a Australian of Palestinian descent based in Australia, expressed he desired the arrangement could permit him to assist his senior relative, who is still in Gaza without access to medical care, to his current home, and to discover and lay to rest his brother, sister-in-law and their four children, who have been missing since 2023.

Jewish Australians Holds Commemoration

Maritime Protesters Share Experiences

One activist, his damaged arm after it was allegedly dislocated in an incarceration center, told that limited details were clear about the truce arrangement. Worldwide assistance agencies, including Unrwa and Unicef, were preparing to enter Gaza.

"Given the ongoing conditions where there's a brutal and illegal blockade on the territory," commented McEwen, maritime demonstrators would keep working to deliver aid by sea.

Another participant, who returned to Sydney on recently, gave an emotional speech describing his detention with 83 other men in a detention facility.

Leadership Remarks

The political representative the politician told the crowd: "We cannot let a reality where the former president decides the destiny of Palestinians to be the nature of existence we tolerate."

One activist who made the first proposal to demonstrate at the famous location claimed that the protesters could have safely headed to the iconic waterfront location. The NSW police assistant commissioner had earlier informed the court of appeal that the proposal seemed problematic.

The activist commented during the protest: "Whenever the police attempt to oppose our protests or legal challenges, it wakes up a lot of people... to the necessity to organize and stand up against it."
