Miami put up eighty-six opening half scores against the Memphis Grizzlies
The Heat earned a decisive 146 to 114 win over the Grizzlies in their first NBA game after player Rozier was arrested over alleged unlawful sports betting.
Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups was additionally arrested as part of a sweeping federal probe into sports betting. The two individuals deny the allegations.
But, the Miami team were not distracted as they put up 86 first-half points to be ahead of Memphis by thirty-nine after two quarters, the largest halftime lead in the franchise's 37 year history.
Adebayo top-scored with twenty-four scores and afterwards stated Rozier had the support of the team.
"We support him. Complete backing," Adebayo said. "You support him through and through. That's our brother at the end of the day."
Heat coach Spoelstra commented: "Terry is somebody who is very dear to everyone. He has made a beneficial influence on our locker room.
"We send our thoughts and support for him as he faces the situation."
Portland also won their first game since the arrests, with Brazilian Splitter stepping in as interim coach in Chauncey's non-attendance and leading the squad to a decisive 139 to 119 win against the Warriors.
"Everyone experienced great experiences with Billups and how he coached," Tiago said. "We're thinking of him and his loved ones but we have a job to do."
League Commissioner Silver 'Upset' by Recent Events
Addressing the detentions for the first time, league head Adam Silver said he was "deeply disturbed" by the incidents of the past few days.
"There's nothing more important to the NBA and supporters than the integrity of the competition," he informed a broadcaster. "And so I had a pit in my stomach. It was disturbing."
Silver also mentioned an league probe into the player's actions in spring 2023, when there was "aberrational betting" in a match he participated for the Hornets against the Pelicans, discovered no wrongdoing.
"It was brought to our attention by the regulators and the betting companies," he continued.
"We investigated the matter and were open about it. And while there was that aberrational betting, we, honestly, couldn't find anything.
"Federal authorities has legal authority... [it] can impose penalties, can do all kinds of things that the NBA can't do.
"Therefore, we've been working with them from that point. And, of course, what they announced yesterday was an indictment.
"Moreover 30 months after, he still hasn't been convicted of anything, in justice to Terry.
"Obviously, it appears unfavorable, but he's been suspended, and so it is a balance here between protecting people's rights and investigating."
