The New England Patriots tied their top unbeaten stretch since the Tom Brady era as they overcame AFC East rivals the New York Jets 27-14 in professional football

First-year standout Henderson led the way with three scores as the New England squad claimed an eighth consecutive victory for the first time since legendary quarterback Tom Brady's closing campaign with the team in 2019

Quarterback Drake Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a TD, connecting on 25 of 34 passes

Victory bolsters the Patriots lead at the top of the division as they improved to nine wins and two defeats, with the Jets at the foot after dropping to a 2-8 mark

The visitors had gone in front at their home field with quarterback Fields running in a short rushing score to cap the Jets' initial series

But the New England responded in the second period as the rookie ran in two seven-yard touchdowns before the ball carrier hauled in a throw from Drake Maye at the rear of the end zone halfway into the third quarter to make it 21 to 7

"It was a key occasion for him rising to the challenge, and it's been great for him to keep getting these reps," the quarterback commented on Henderson. "He desires to be outstanding."

Justin Fields threw to Metchie late in the third quarter to close the gap for the Jets but Andy Borregales converted a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter as the home side closed out the triumph
